Why do people panic buy every time there’s a blizzard?

Every time, at my local supermarket, people overstock on bread, milk, and water until there’s barely anything on the shelves. Covid is obviously another story but it’s a simple blizzard. In some rare cases the wind and snow may knock out your power, but for the most part, you only have to wait at least a day to for the storm to end so you can spend a few hours outside shoveling and snow-blowing. Yet people panic buy as if they have to survive on it for weeks, while they can easily get back to their weekly shopping as the roads have already been plowed perfectly!!!

I don't have an answer to that but I have a solution. What matters most is water and warmth if you have electric heating. I have lots of bottled water in case of emergency and a pair of sleeping bags made for freezing weather. Think of the best-insulated part of your house. Keep cans of food that last a long time.

It's the media .....they sensationalize the event and they pretty much have people conditioned to do what you posted.....

That’s perhaps because they live so comfortably that one minor disaster, they go berserk. Indicating that when it comes down to it, most of them aren’t even prepared for ANY form of disaster.

If they’re ever really that scared then here’s an idea, buy what they need ahead of time. Jeeze......
