After the hard freeze we had this winter, it looks like we have a lot of dead trees. So there won't be any planting this year of anything.   What we will be doing is removing dead things.  It looks like our palm trees are dead, azaleas, camellias, a gardenia flowering bushes as well as the various citrus trees.  The peach trees seem to be thriving because the past winters were too warm and they finally got the chill hours.  Waiting to see what happened to the fig trees.  Also, worrying about the oak and pecan trees. Some of the oaks are hundreds of years old.  Probably won't know completely until at least summer.   Pine trees are OK. We had 9 degrees for about 12 hours.

Without help or me planting, and just letting things up and grow, we get these really pretty white, purple, and yellow flower clusters in the front really early (they are there now), but they die off before the weather turns really warm for some reason. We only get those for about a month. We also have a peony plant and we think tulips or daffodils, but they didn't flower last year. That will start blooming and growing all over the place in a few weeks.
