find the pattern?

I need help with finding the pattern for step 5 in the next box.

    Step 5 will be the same as step 1.

    Note that columns 2 and 3 do not change. So they are always the same.

    Column 1 in step 1 is ABAA.

    Column 1 in step 3 is BABB. The A's and B's have switched.

    Therefore column 1 in step 5 will again be ABAA.

    Column 4 in step 1 is ABBB.

    Column 4 in step 3 is BAAA. Again the A's and B's have switched.

    Therefore column 4 in step 5 will again be ABBB.
