Seamstresses, can darts be added to a woman's shirt, if it has a box pleat?  see below?

I have a shirt that has a single, some what narrow, box pleat at the I guess it would be the nape of the neck/back.  I was wondering if could still add a couple of darts to give it a bit more flattering shape, if not in the back how about the front or both?

I'm relatively new to sewing.

Update:

***I'm wanting to add darts near the waist/lower back area.

Darts are to add roundness to the garment. Darts are use for the bust line,

Or in pants in the front for the stomach.

You can add vertical darts in the back or under the bust in the front to make the garment curve in. Eliminating too much  fabric around the middle of the torso.

Pin in the darts and use a long basting stitch that can be easily pulled out. See how it looks first.

Post a photo of the garment.  It really depends on the garment if darts are going to work and look good. If the blouse has too much fabric  darts are not going to work.

You can add darts in the usual way, of course. If it were my shirt, I might be tempted to iron the box pleat all the way down the back and top stitch the edges into a permanent pleat first.  Then you could fit appropriate darts at the waist on each side of the pleat.
