Why does Christmas music sound the same as hymns?

I've been listening to Hymns recently and I can't help realize its very similar to Christmas music. Why is this?

    Because many Christmas Carols come from church songs.

    Hymns and Christmas carols are about the Lord  Jesus Christ.
