Black people, do you ever get tired of people holding you to certain stereotypes good or bad?
Do you ever get tired of people expecting you to "Act" a certain way? For example if you speak eloquently and with proper grammar then you don't sound "black" or do you ever feel like you are expected to watch certain sports or like certain things because you are black. Do you ever get sick of it and just want to be your own person? To not have to be expected to be good at basketball? Does it piss you off that Hollywood actors including ones that claim to represent the black community perpetuates these same stereotypes against black people? I'm not black or white or any mainstream race so it's quite liberating not to feel like I'm "supposed " to act a certain way or that I'm "supposed" to like certain things

Yes, sadly the virus has helped distance most individuals from interacting with me and applying their racial stereotypes. The last one I heard while walking was I my actual mom's daughter. She confused me for my mom and I said I am her daughter. Then she said oh really like her real, actual daughter. I mean she always said she had one. I just didn't know if you were really hers. Well you look exactly alike. Next was I need to get out and do something with my life. There's so many things wrong with those statements. Voice wise I was accused of being white because of my proper grammar and kicked out of a group. I have been told my father must be white because neither my mom or I sound like we are from the area we currently live....I've also been told there's no way I can be black. I mean literal arguments over this stuff ..I can't make up. All because my articulation of words. I am my own person regardless and if I was expected to be good at basketball would that be a negative? No. Most people assume I am not because of my demeanor. It would just suck for me personally it I was not. Most people assume I don't like anime or video games or marvel movies etc. I have been told not to wear any other hair color than black because it does not look good on my skin. I wore burgundy/red a few times and had a lady tell me at my job wear that color and not the other ones. "It matches me." I like to wear mainly blue and occasionally green. I get many compliments from strangers and family friends etc. Hollywood actors do not offend me because all black people are not alike. There is a black Hollywood actor honestly representing a individual who is black and that can relate to the character portrayed. The only offense I take personal against a actor is Cynthia Erivo twice she portrayed two black American people without support from the black community. She is portraying Aretha when Aretha said on her death bed she wanted J.hud. Stereotypes are mentally tiresome. For me I talk to my friends male and female who can relate. My family is also always willing to give a lending ear.
