Can you legally work a full time and a part time job?

I’ve seen this question a lot but from past years (the answer was yes) but I was wondering if something had changed over the last years or if something it’s different where I live.

So, I live somewhere in Texas and I have this part time job that I really love (involves pups) but I don’t usually get a lot of hours...& recently I got a part time at Fiesta (I was offered full too) & the scheduling thing it’s going to be a little difficult, so I was thinking about working part time, 1-3 days with the dogs & the rest of the week full time at fiesta. Is it legal? Are there any complications? Thanks.

Update:

1-3 days with the dogs & the whole week at fiesta*

Unless you have signed something with one of the employers saying you can't do this, it is probably legal.

An employee has a duty of loyalty to the employer.  This means there should not be a conflict of interest between the two jobs, such as intentionally getting company A to do business with company B, or sharing company A secrets with company B.

The only complication might be if the full-time company asks you to work overtime, and you can't because of the part-time company.

Asking if it is legal indicates a criminal proceedings, if it is not.  It would be a civil proceeding, not criminal, if it was not allowed and whether or not it would be allowed, you would have to ask your full time employer.  Some allow their employees to also work part-time and some don't.  If there is any conflict of interest, you can bet that it would not be allowed.  Since you got your part-time job first, make sure your full time employer knows about it and is okay with it.

Yes.  There are no laws against it.

However, many Govt jobs will not allow you to work another job without their permission.  It has more to do with security than anything else.
