I find it disturbing when I see news articles call 18 year olds “adults”. Do you guys find that offensive?

In the eyes of the law,

18 IS an adult.

You live in Mississippi......these things we know about you just from that statement - you're inbred.  You're racist.  you support trump.  you're a Qpublican.  You're illiterate and uneducated. you're a pedophile. you are strongly opposed to democracy.  If you're getting all bent out of shape over LEGAL ADULTS being referred to as adults then maybe you need to go find a JOB or something productive to pass your time.  And for the record - nobody gives a fuq what some inbred redneck trash from Mississippi thinks.  About ANYTHING!

Legally an 18 year old is an adult.  Teenager is nor a real classification.  Biologically you are an adult after puberty, and for centuries that is exactly how it was viewed.  The idea of "teenager" as not being an adult is pretty well this last century.  100 years ago most were getting married at 17-20.

The legal age of drinking might be 21, but no, you are an adult at 18 in Mississippi too.  You can sign a contract at 18 and be legally responsible for your actions including being tried in an adult court at 18.

What I DO find offensive is your state's sexist law that allows children to marry without parental consent...girls at 15 and males at 17.

Because they are biological adults, and in MOST states/countries that age is a LEGAL adult.

I find it more disturbing that you fixate on a mere WORD...   A number to measure time that was invented by humans.     The word "teen" being in the age doesn't mean ANYTHING.

Heck I was a LEGAL adult at 17 because I emancipated thru military enlistment.    We were not allowed to call our peers "boys" or "girls"..  we had soldiers, men, women, males and females...    Children aren't allowed to enlist.

18 Year Old People can drive, can vote, can be inducted in The Military in time of war. Are you saying they are not Adults?

In the U.K. adults are 18. The US wants to keep their kids as kids forever.
