Why does the media use the term (serving their constituents) when referring to politicians?

When in fact politicians are nothing but self serving thieves!

I put this in the same category as your other responses "The advice you get here (on Yahoo) is worth the price you pay."  Flippant and disrespectful.  All politicians in the real World are NOT self serving thieves.  Why is "serving the constituents" in parenthesis in your rant?  Oh, the media doesn't.

why do you use parentheses instead of quotation-marks?

They use that term because serving their constituents is what politicians are supposed to do

Who gives those politicians free publicity in exchange for access to their powerful resources? THE MEDIA.

They also serve the people who contributed to their campaigns.

Because no matter how you generalize them, that's supposed to be their job (and elected to do it), and some do a better job of it than others. Though some to the point of being self serving thieves FOR their constituents and against the good of the rest of the nation.

*cough* McConnell and welfare state Kentucky *cough*
