Was the movie Falling Down ahead of its time?

Everyone says Falling Down was ahead of its time it is because it's about a guy who loses it all with how everything is and that's how everyone is feeling nowadays?

It was in a way,  as my brother worked for IBM........who were famous,--legendary-- for never laying off employees.   (They always tried to transfer you, at least to another dept., or offer you a job in another facility)

But as Microsoft grew, and IBM started to fade, and couldn't  keep up,  they were finally forced to make massive job cuts, and had several rounds of laying off 1,000's of employees that they just couldn't keep anymore....(or didn't need, due to advances in computers)

My brother went thru a dozen  of these shake ups and scale downs......always ending up in a worse, less desireable position.......until he finally found himself  in a spot that was being eliminated altogether-

That movie always reminds me of what he was going thru, and how easy it was  to  be one day  gainfully employed, in a steady job, for years,  and the next......they just rip the entire rug out from under you and leave you adrift.....in your 50's.....with little chance of anyone else hiring you at that age.......so what the hell do you do?

He was literally at that point, where I thought he was gonna shoot up a McDonalds for not giving him breakfast  at 10:31......because it was a minute past breakfast time.

Sorry, but not even close to everyone feels that way. It is a very good film however.
