What's the origin of the phrase is there a Mrs. (First and last name of boyfriend)?

And if men asked the same about a woman and it's "is there a Mr. (First and last name of girlfriend)", how come there are no television episodes or movies about that?

I remember it being used in Forrest Gump, when the principal asked her,   "Is there a Mr. Gump".......but surely the line has been used many times before that.
