    Glue it back into place with no more nails - saves on filling and painting.

    The three inch wide trim piece goes flat against the wall and gets nailed in place with finishing nails.  You don't need many nails.  Just enough to hole the piece in place.  The smaller piece called a stop then slides up against the piece you just nailed in and gets fastened with small brad nails.
