Is it appropriate to talk with a dental hygienist on social media?

Is it appropriate and okay to talk with your dental hygienist on social media? when you're at the dentist they ask you stuff like where do you work? and talk to each other about non dental stuff.

    Only ok if you are friends in real life.

    Chatting during appointments is part of their job, does not indicate personal interest.
