boulder co mass shooting???WHY DO I FEEL SO EMOTIONAL?? is it normal to feel so sad?

Hello, I live in CO about 30 minutes from boulder, co. I used to work in boulder 2 years ago and I go there occasionally to see my doctor. I feel really devastated by the shooting and I couldn't sleep all night when it happened and I have also cried these past 3 days... Is this normal?? I don't feel like i have a right to feel sad because i did not know any of the victims and i havent been to boulder in a couple of months. I also wanted to leave some flowers for the memorial they're having. Even though I don't live in boulder is it normal to feel this way?? I don't know if im just terrified and thinking what if this happened closer to where i live. I do remember when i used to work there id go to the grocery store almost everyday during my lunch break so maybe thats what terrifies me that it could have happened anywhere to anyone , but i just dont know if its normal to feel this way??

Seeing as how it happened in a place you worked at, it is normal for you to feel that way.

It would be a lovely gesture to leave flowers and attend the memorial. We all feel shaken by these events because they're so random, and they can happen anywhere. However, even though we've now seen two mass shootings in a short space of time, it's important to keep in mind that there are 360,000,000 people in the country, and the odds of you ever being in a mass shooting are very small. We can make those odds smaller with some reasonable gun reform, so it might make you feel better to look into the efforts to do that, and to contribute to them. What you're feeling right now is a loss of control over your life, and you can get back some of that sense of control by looking at the proposed ways of preventing them from happening any more.
