I used to drink beer and hard liquor and I would be a little heavy. Now I drink dry red wines and I am as slim as I was in high school. By the way I am in my 60s.

I love wine, specifically cabernet sauvignon.

Dry wine is only 600 calories /bottle so it is not very fattening.

Sure I like wine, though I don't drink it often.

No!  Wine does not make you fat, just as (in reality) beer does not create a "beer belly".  Weight loss/gain is mostly just calorie intake vs. expense (though fats may lend more to gain since it takes less energy to convert fats to fats than carbs or whatever to fats).  Wine contributes calories, which can help you gain - but then so can Twinkies.  Wine isn't a specific culprit.
