It's because Trump said they should be treated like all other asylum seekers in the world. Japanese, Chinese, Cambodian, Russian...ALLL asylum seekers from EVERY nation apply from their respective countries. It is extremely rare that they enter first, then apply. To go from that to MILLIONS coming in, being dispersed throughout the country without so much as a court date, then applying while here (if they apply at all)?
