Do you view a vacation as an educating / spiritual experience ?

My favourite thing about my previous vacations was not the entertainment or the food but the opportunity to expand the boundaries of my life and grow spiritually and emotionally by experiencing something new, like being able to hear a medical student chat with the guy behind me on the bus during our full day trip, learning about the bee crises of 2016, trying the worlds best ice cream shop and having macadamia ice cream there, being able to have parrots nestle themselves on our shoulders - it allowed me to expand my visual horizon and social frontiers

When I worked, a vacation was mostly time off work, but I usually took one day at a time -- so, 4 day weeks -- so that I could catch up on TV.

Now that I'm retired, I watch TV every day.  If I go out of town, it's usually for a relative's wedding.

When I went out of town without such a reason, I drove all around a city.  Was that educational or spiritual?

But, now, I sit at home and "drive" around a city using Google Maps Street View.  I recently finished Augusta, GA.  I will start Savannah soon.
