Can a scammer get any information about me if all I did was answer a scammer's call?
I've gotten calls from random people saying I've won stuff. But none of the conversations even lasted a minute, (I just freak out when I receive random calls lol), so I'm certain I've never given any information about me verbally through a phone call. I remember a few times, I got a call from a foreign number, and he spelled my name to confirm he was talking to the right person. And I said yes (well he knows my name and number right..). And I asked who he is, and he replied he's Ethan (I've never known or met a single Ethan in my life). And he was talking something and I got a lil nervous + the signal wasn't great so I told him that and he said he'll hang up and call me from a different number. He called again a few mins later and the signal was too weak, I couldn't even speak. Now I'm not sure if he needed to actually talk to me to get information about me, or does he only need me to answer his call? Is it possible for someone to collect information that exists in my phone by only answering it?

They can't get any useful info (bank acct, credit cards, SS#) unless you give it to them. But by answering AND being naivé enough to take a 2nd call, you're now marked as a rube. You'll only get more calls, so don't answer.

Do not answer any call you do not know the name or number, let it ring. If you do ansewr the call, as soon as you know its BS, just hang up, do not even give your name, the second tey ask hang up.

The only information that they can get from you answering your phone is that your phone number is functional and in use. Scammers and robocall companies can then sell that number to other companies for a profit. The thing to do, from this point forward, is to NOT answer your phone if you don't recognize the number or the caller. If it's not a scam call, they'll leave a message, right? So why even pick up if you don't know who it's from?
