What would be the most practical translator ever invented?

I've been thinking about how could we improve online translators.

For example, it would be great if we could see the meaning of a word in a text by just placing the cursor on it.

Online translators are still very bad at detecting grammar or syntax mistakes.  They just correct vocabulary and/or spelling errors.

Any other ideas?

Yes, online translators still leave a lot of room for improvement, but your suggestion is unworkable.

Words don't have a single meaning on their own.  For example, the word 'run' has 645 different meanings.

Also, thousands of words have different meanings (and/or spellings) in different countries and even in different regions.
