Why is kimchi more popular than croissant in the UK?

Kimchi obviously must taste better to more people. Personally I love the stuff.

It’s not. Cite your proof.
Almost every UK supermarket and bakery sells lots of croissants. Even though most of them are crap.
Canned kimchi is also widely available at larger supermarkets, and unsurprisingly at almost every food shop in New Malden (largest ex-pat Korean community in Europe) but the majority of British people have never seen or tried it even if they have heard of it.
Croissants are popular because we’re culturally and geographically a European country and are right next to France, where croissants were first created.
Kimchi is not very popular because fermented spiced salty cabbage tastes a bit too unusual for British tastes as we’ve rarely been exposed to it, being on the other side of the planet to Korea and only relatively recently become host to a small but concentrated Korean community and to their culture and foods.
Until we had large-scale Polish immigration even sauerkraut was hardly ever found in the UK and despite its widespread availability now, very few British people have ever tried it. Sauerkraut is also a fermented cabbage product but usually has herbs added instead of the spices often present in kimchi.

Where I go shopping I have never seen kimchi, but I see croissants on the shelfs.
