Women have periods it’s natural and nothing to be embarrassed about. I’m male but grew up in a house full of females so of course I’d be understanding to females.

I have male and female bosses, and yes I would, one of the male team leaders I went for a walk with before he became team leader and we mentioned sex (we were just friends though) so if I could discuss sex with him I could definitely mention about my period.

Yes, I like to give a reason why I would be absent, and my boss understands period pain, how unbearable it can be. He also knows that I don't take advantage of this and make it a monthly occurrence, I only ask for a day off when it's absolutely unavoidable.

That is hardly a reasonable excuse for not coming in to work. Are you going to call out "sick" every time you have your period till you're like 55? So no i would not feel comfortable telling the boss that story.

It's not a matter of being comfortable, my female staff know I understand when they are honest with me.
