Depends on what you mean by "the world". The creation of the universe was clearly a direct act of God. It could not have been caused by any natural process, since the universe is the sum total of all natural entities - matter, energy, time and space - none of which existed before the universe existed. If you mean the Earth, then scientists thoroughly understand the process by which planets form. You can easily find it online if you are truly interested.

As the Bible explains, God is the one who created all things. Furthermore, we know that the universe at one time did not exist. Genesis 1:1, 2
Where did it come from? Its Creator had to exist first. He also existed before there were any other intelligent beings, such as his only-begotten Son and the angels. Colossians 1:15
Only he could have created the earth and breathed life into everything else.

Earth and the other 8 planets of our solar system were formed by the gradual accumulation of dust and gasses in a process called gravitational accretion - an effect caused by a spinning sun - and is the same process that is being observed forming exosolar planets HR8799 B, C, D and E in the constellation of Pegasus.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

I think it was made last Thursday by a tech wiz with a 3-D printer rendering it and everything in it to seem like it was made way before last Thursday, and the universe isn't big at all, sits on the corner of his desk, in fact, just we are very, very, very small, a testament to just how good that 3-D printer of his is.
