do hdmi switchers introduce any input lag at all?

    To be technical, lag is misnomer. Since a the digital information is being carried on a frequency what happens is that you get interruptions of the data. Which causes your output monitor to freeze and jump.

    If you have a switcher that is hardwired, where you physically have to push/pull a lever to select your input/output, there is less chance of there being interruptions in the data stream. If you have a unit that has soft-switched, that receives a signal, on a circuit board, to switch the outputs the chances of you getting interruptions go up a lot.

    Either way, I say it's better than having to pull the TV or the cable box out to plug the cable into a different input or output.

    You might just want to invest in a TV that has more than 2 HDMI inputs. I believe Samsung sells a line of them.
