What is this 90s children's computer game?

Had an old 2000s computer game, trying to find the name for nostalgia. I distinctly remember it may have had a peripheral? 

Plot - there were aliens or something that came down, and you had to stop them. You did this by hitting them w/ yellow balls fired from a gun maybe? I remember a shopping mall level? And I remember that the yellow balls were goopy, or filled a meter, or were limited or something.
