He is a tragedy; a tragedy that ended his life could only occur in USA. However, in his death he accomplished much. Nonetheless, he was not an icon; Icons are people like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Mandela. You should note, they all did prison time; far more than Floyd would ever do even if he lived to be 100 years old. May he rest in peace.

Perhaps, but not because of anything he did. It was caused by the actions of the lead officer.

Floyd never should have been an icon anymore than Emmet Till. However both deaths, among too many others, have put a spotlight on the cruelty blacks and people of color have had to endure far too long in America. Till’s murder led in part to the civil rights movement that ended open segregation in the south. Hopefully Floyd’s death will move our country toward fully accepting and ending the racism that divides us.

No, he was a violent criminal whose death coincided with a trigger point the BLM and socialist movement was looking for .

Jesse Smollet knew they had their international plans in place and he wanted to be the trigger point for the international unrest and so his name would be forever popular. He couldn't wait to tell the world of his terrible trauma at the hands of those mean ole white people. But of course his childish little pretend games didn't quite work out the way he planned.

Smollet wanted his name exactly where Floyds is now, only he wanted to be alive and bask in the attention and glory.

Mandela, King and Gandhi were ICONS worthy of forever respect, and they get that respect sound the world and always will.

Floyd was a violent career criminal, a drug addict and a serial criminal who only cared about his own self gratification. He should never be elevated to the level where he is now and I think BLM should be ashamed of themselves.

Anyone who puts Floyd in the same sentence as Gandhi or Mandella and especially KING is urinating on the face of every person on the planet. And I have zero respect or use for the people who do.

Kings face should be on Rushmore with the other great men there not sullied with the name of someone like Folyd in the same sentence.

No.  St. Fentanyl was still a drug addicted criminal when he died from an overdose.
