Why is a mask still federal law, even though the CDC said vaccinated people can now travel?
I don't get why were never getting rid of the face masks. The CDC said that people who have been vaccinated can now travel, but still have to wear a mask. Makes me wonder if masks are going to remain on planes forever, at least in the United States. In Europe and other countries, they will do away with masks on planes, but I feel it's forever in the United States.
I imagine in the year 2035, if your in Europe boarding a flight to the United States, the gate agent without a mask will tell all the people going to the United States to wear a mask over their nose and mouth. And then on the 8-12 hour flight, they will tell you to only remove the mask while taking a bite or a sip. If you sleep with the mask off, you will be awaken with a warning card to put the mask back on.
I think many people want this, and I'm seeing it happen. I also think that in 2035, 5-10 million people will be banned from flying forever for not wearing a mask.

Remember, COVID is not just a bad cold. 560k Americans have been killed by it. That doesn't even include all the Brazilians, Europeans, Africans, etc. who've also been killed by it. Vaccines offer an important layer of protection but there are COVID variants (UK, Brazil, Calif, NY)which might be able to get around the vaccines. Think of COVID as an invading army and a mask as a barbed wire fence and the vaccines as base security guards with rifles. Nobody would say: hey let's have a military base with guards only & no fence. Or a base with fence only and no armed guards. So, please wear your mask and get vaccinated. I am a lifelong Republican who wears a mask and got vaccinated. PS: I wouldn't fly on vacation now or go to a baseball stadium with 40k fans, even with an N-95 mask.

Why don't you quit complaining about this and either (1) not fly or (2) wear your mask. Because we still have relatively low rates of vaccination, it is important to take other precautions to continue minimizing spread in the meantime.

The masks are a control mechanism.
Dr Fauci said in Feb 2020 that 80% of Americans would get this virus.
To date only 7% Hispanic, 5% Black, 2% white and 1% Asian are the averages testing positive. That is a long way from 80%
The masks were a way to slow the spread to assist medical facilities.
Several states NY, CA, MI, IL used it to destroy their economy and raise unemployment numbers to help Bozo get elected.
Now that we have the vaccine, the masks are still a way to control people and coincidentally, liberals are the most gullible group.
Liberals believe phrases like "the check is in the mail" or "I didn't *** in you" or "I'm from the government, I am here to help you"

There IS a federal mask mandate that went into effect the beginning of February that stated masks must be worn when traveling on airplanes, trains, buses, taxis and rideshare services (Uber/Lyft) in the United States

Okay.. AGAIN what federal law are you referring to? The Biden administration have passed a mandate that people wear masks in U.S. government facilities and public transportation systems.
A mandate, though enforceable as a law, it is not a law. It has not gone through the senate or house for review and ratification. This mandate was invoked due to the state of emergency the U.S. is in from the COVID pandemic.
Also individual state governments may have their own mandates in addition to the federal in order to deal with this pandemic/
Once heard immunity is reached (approximately 70% vaccination) where the infections is manageable, the mask mandate will be lifted.
If you have a problem, then simply refrain from traveling until the mandate is lifted.
I hate the masks too, plus I have to wear a face shield in addition while on duty when dealing with travelers. Off-duty I wear the mask while in public. I will do this until the CDC and the Biden administration signals that masks may be removed.
Also I am fully vaccinated.
@BlueBellBKK: According to my sources, ideally sometime 4th quarter 2021 the mandate should be lifted. No guarantees though so keep your fingers crossed.

There's absolutely no reason to think we'll have to wear masks for ever. Longer than we would like, sure; but not "for ever".
What you or I "think" about what will or won't happen won't make a scrap of difference in the end.

Vaccinations don't 100% prevent you from getting the disease. Nor does it stop you carrying it / passing it to someone else.

There is no federal mask mandate, just federal support of states that mandate them. As for planes, they are privately owned, and when you fly, you must abide by their requirements. So an airline can mandate masks, the federal government can't.

FWIW, the CDC does not make laws...they can only recommend.
There is no Federal mandate for masks...State's make that determination.
