Is there a way to know how much the exact amount I need to pay when I schedule a ride in Uber?

I'm new here in U.S. and I don't have a DL yet. So I have to take uber/lyft to work for the meantime. I'm not really used to using these apps. So i tried to book an uber for the first time. I booked my ride the night before. Its shows that I have to pay is approx. $11-$13 which is okay. But the next morning, I saw that the amount went up to approx $19!! Thank goodness I saw it 30 mins before my pick up schedule. I cancelled and book lyft instead.

    No.

Service like Uber and Lyft use “surge pricing”.

So when there are few drivers working for any reason, or when there is more demand for trips from passengers competing to get rides, pricing goes up in response.

Some pricing is reasonably predictable: rush hours will usually cost more than trips in the late morning or mid-afternoon.

If you want fixed and totally predictable pricing, use a regular taxi service.

NOT PRECISELY, NO, BECAUSE IT CHANGES ACCORDING TO DEMAND, WHICH IS RELATED TO LOCATION AND TIME OF DAY. Here is a price estimator: https://www.uber.com/us/en/price-estimate/
