Okay im confused. Just found out poptart has gelatin in it ?

Yes, that means it's not veggie.

Some gelatin is animal based, so you are right, poptarts are not vegan...dammit....

Poptarts contain (beef) gelatin so they are not vegetarian. Gelatin is listed in the ingredients clearly enough but I agree that most people would assume Poptarts to be vegetarian. 

It just shows how careful a person needs to be to be strictly vegetarian. Frankly, I think a lot of vegetarians wouldn't be bothered.

Vegetarians can eat gelatin. Vegetarians just don't eat animal flesh, some also don't eat seafood.  But they eat animal products:  cheese, milk, honey, eggs, gelatin, etc.  I have a vegetarian friend who puts is very clearly ... "I don't eat anything with eyes".

It is vegans who don't eat gelatin inor anything that comes from or is produced by animals.

You have to read the labels. It's not easy to every single time you buy an item, but you have to. I just bought apple sauce with added sugar.  

The non frosted pop tarts are vegetarian friendly. My brother is vegetarian and will eat those. 

Frosted ones are not. 

Pop tarts are the worst for not properly warning about that. I'm not a vegetarian myself but I believe there should be a big warning if something is seemingly vegetarian and isn't, on pop tart boxes it is small print and you'd be forgiven for thinking a jam filled pastry is vegetarian. Yes, gelatine is always an animal product, there are alternatives but they are not gelatine. Obviously there doesn't need to be a warning if you are buying a leg of lamb but some things are not what they seem and don't make it known enough. We all seem to know nowadays but wine gums and liquorice sweets didn't and still don't make it clear enough about what is in them, it's only after a long time that it became known that they are not suitable for vegetarians if you look at the small print.

Lol probably for the jelly like filling or icing on it, I'm not sure but not suprised
