He'll probably get it. The Lakers have plenty of money, their problem is fitting under the NBA salary cap. There's an exception they can use on Schroeder where they can go over the cap to sign him. They'll be able to do that during the offseason, that's why he won't sign the extension now.

He's not delusional. When you are negotiating for a wage, do you go into the negotiation with exactly how much you think you are worth or are happy to receive? If you do you are an idiot. He's went in more than likely higher than what he would be happy with. The lakers will then negotiate from a lower point. He reduces, they increase, he ends up with a salary that's what he wants. It's not delusional it's business.
