why can't democrats realize that democracy and republic are two separate forms of government and america is a REPUBLIC not a DEMOCRACY?

Update:

wally considering liberals have been the racist party for centuries I doubt it, I mean look democrats were never the conservative party therefore liberals were always the racist ones conservatives want us to have our rights liberals want to take them away and act like there are rights that aren't in the constitution

Update 2:

Ben franklin was asked if we are a democracy or a monarchy he said and I quote" you have a republic as long as you can keep it"  A REPUBLIC

Update 3:

Actually we are a constitutional republic not a democratic

Update 4:

IF ITS OKAY FOR LIBS TO BASH CONSERVATIVES ITS OKAY FOR CONSERVATIVES TO BASH LIBS

Misguided one:  The United States is a REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, governed OF, BY, and FOR THE PEOPLE.  The key word here is "representative":  We, the people, pick agents of our own choosing from our own ranks to act on our behalf at local, state, and federal levels (voila! politics!).

My older brother tried saying what you've said here, too---he was determined to deny the representation part of our unique form of people-owned government.  The "democratic" part is that pesky "of, by, and for the people" government that is set up in the Constitution of which you speak.  VOTING is how we keep our elected REPRESENTATIVES in line once we give them the power to represent us in the political system.

The generic use of "liberals" and "conservatives' as you've done is also not an accurate portrayal of the multifaceted 350,000,000 Americans, since most people are a constantly evolving combination of each as well as everything in-between.

Remember the simple truth: The United States of America is a "representative democratic republic which is governed of, by, and for the people"---and so says the Constitution.

All educated people know how a republic reflects democracy. Your inquiry is a lib bashing rant. Your persistent violations contribute to why the site is shutting down.

Emotionally, I will say this to you. If we are not a democracy, I do not accept that we are not, for every other major country in the world where people are free are called democracies, and the phrase western democracies is very common used as you know to describe them as such.  You say we are not. Ok, then stop all the presses, for it needs to be fixed right away.  What you are in your cunning way trying to tell us is that you do not believe in democracy, or the idea of the govt. serving all of the people and the fundamental idea that the majority will rules.  What you are saying is that if a group of people form an organization that what the majority wants should not matter. You believe and want to retain your power to oppress, and your power to be racist, just like in the days of colonial times when Europeans say came over to the new world and declared it theirs and enslaved the inhabitants and slaughtered them. You are saying you believe it is your right to rule as a minority.

But seriously, enough of jokes.......I can see why you want to say that and its likely because you do not believe in democracy and prefer oppression and fascism.  The truth is that democracy is a form of government essentially where the people control their government and their govt. serves them according to their will.  That is a pure democracy. In a larger society since the people cannot be the government directly, they instead opt for a representative form of govt. where they elect people to office who represent them as the government.   So a representative democracy is democracy, just not a pure one, is democracy by representation.  A Republic is a form of democracy, or more accurately a form of representative democracy.  Now, read the rest below to continue your education.

    democracy

    noun

    US /dɪˈmɑː.krə.si/ UK /dɪˈmɒk.rə.si/

    B2 [ U ]

the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected representatives or directly by the people themselves:

The government has promised to uphold the principles of democracy.

The early 1990s saw the spread of democracy in Eastern Europe.

    B2 [ C ]

a country in which power is held by elected representatives:

Few of the Western democracies still have a royal family.

     More examples

A strong opposition is vital to a healthy democracy.

There cannot be true democracy without reform of the electoral system.

Sweden is often held up as an example of a successful social democracy.

The recent free elections mark the next step in the country's progress toward democracy.

Western governments should be giving more aid to the emerging democracies of the Third World.

    Definition of republic

1a(1): a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president

(2): a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

b(1): a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law

(2): a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

c: a usually specified republican government of a political unit

    the French Fourth Republic

2: a body of persons freely engaged in a specified activity

    the republic of letters

3: a constituent political and territorial unit of the former nations of Czechoslovakia, the U.S.S.R., or Yugoslavia

    Representative democracy

Representative democracy, also known as indirect democracy or representative government, is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy. Nearly all modern Western-style democracies are types of representative democracies; for example, the United Kingdom is a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy, France is a unitary semi-presidential republic, and the United States is a federal presidential republic. It is an element of both the parliamentary and the presidential systems of government and is typically used in a lower chamber such as the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, or Lok Sabha of India, and may be curtailed by constitutional constraints such as an upper chamber. It has been described by some political theorists including Robert A. Dahl, Gregory Houston and Ian Liebenberg as polyarchy. In it the power is in the hands of the representatives who are elected by the people. Political parties are often central to this form of democracy because electoral systems require voters to vote for political parties as opposed to individual representatives.

Actually, the more conservative friends I know tend to be the racist ones.  I know because I have to deal with them at work, I try not to talk about politics but they get so negative and they're the ones that bring it up and won't shut up about it.  They get on my nerve so bad, so annoying, they're so negative and they put you in a bad mood.

America is a democracy. A republic is very bad. Conservatives want less freedom, and are racist and sexist. Liberals want everyone to be free.
