Horoscopes:  Anyone know why Yahoo Answers is shutting down? ?

I hope it is being shut down because it never became what it was intended to be: a forum for the exchange of information.  Instead it became a sounding board for people with low IQs running their mouths in a way they never would in person. Yahoo said it lost popularity.  It seems as popular as ever except Horoscopes.  Astrology's popularity everywhere waxes and wanes like the phases of the Moon.  Lately there is almost nothing here worth replying to.  Other forums are the same.  The quality just isn't there, and probably never was.  If ever anyone thinks Horoscopes was the worst, just head on over to Religion and Spirituality where having a brain is a real disadvantage. That one makes Horoscopes look good.  Check it out before they shut it down. 

Yahoo putting its money elsewhere is not a surprising decision for a flagging resource, if it's true. Businesses do that all the time, and nothing lasts forever.  

I recall that I joined because I naively thought I could help by pointing interested people in the direction of  more sophisticated astrology.  That didn't happen.  Instead I discovered it was a sounding board for the most ignorant skeptics of any subject anywhere, as well as a wishing well for lovesick teenage girls. More rational astrologers came and went, probably giving up hope of finding intelligent life on either side of the equation.  I must be an optimist. I stayed.

Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  Sometimes it was fun, and maybe that's the best it could really do. And if that's right, maybe it was a success after all.

Yahoo said, publicly that YA was not as popular as it used to be and they wish to use their resources elsewhere.  It's been running for 16 years.  They patted themselves on the back for doing a wonderful job, and are saying goodbye. I suspect that is all we will ever get from them. 

Probably too much work and not even profit.

MAY be all the trolling, and hate (especially from conservatives) that goes on here.  Governments are starting to punish websites that allow lies to be spread, and the radical Right are real lie-spreaders.  For instance, there is NO covid scam, and the election was NOT stolen.

Y/A may just find it easier to shut down than to try to police bad behavior by members.

Millennials are getting old dusty and crusty the only people left on here are extremely boring no life old millennials who have been on here their whole useless life with nothing ever worth reading
