Can certain people be deceased because of the coronavirus?

having lived in china for the past several years, i would have to say that i saw this virus coming. walking down main street to the local wet market, on quite a few occasions, i was left wondering, "i wonder if this stuff tastes pretty good", but i didn't indulge yet. fast forward to 17 weeks later, and people just start dying around me. i want to make sure that i give you the best explanation, so i'll be very detailed. as a professor, like most professors, i have delusions of grandeur, thoughts of hysteria, and an overall party girl kind of vibe. whenever i started noticing people dying around me, it was weird. my hands would be thick with red wet syrup and bat droppings. so i'm not sure if the virus is killing these people, or if my internal rage is being released. help
