Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Is there any actual reason for Yahoo! Answers shutting down?

Is there any news on why this service is shut down? Not a huge loss to me, I'm just curious.

Because there were less and less users... And those that did still use it were juveniles and bullies. Once upon a time, Y/A was a forum where you could get serious informed opinions and discuss reasonably with others. That's not been the case for far too long.

YAnswers is not a "service" . . . it is a product designed to generate income from the sale of advertising and information about its users.  Things that don't generate sufficient income to justify the resources they cost are discontinued.  As it turns-out, there's little income to be made with a user base of foolish children, trolls and imbeciles.

Yahoo says it is not popular anymore and the increasingly huge amount of poor content has made it a target for ridicule.
