I call it 'wishful thinking'. It's really arrogant too, thinking one deserves more than one life. And why would that be - simply because you are alive now? That makes no sense. It takes courage and honesty to face the more realistic probability, "This is the one and only life I have."

It's extremely unlikely owing to the fact that we have never found any evidence for it. It's perhaps possible because we might not know where to look or not know how to find it or what even to look for, but it's still extremely unlikely. Wanting something to be true doesn't make it so.
