How long MATHEMATICALLY (in days) will it take to meet "the one"?
My friend and I have done some rough calculations, just for fun! Please do not answer with anything uplifting, we are looking at it from a math perspective as we both have fun with math...
I am attracted to roughly 3.8% of the world population (we used 7874965825 for the world population).
In my state and the states that boarder it, there are roughly 5000000 women, therefore we found that using the 3.8% number, I would be attracted to 190000 women. The number of people that I would connect with per day would be about 0.05479 (20 women a year, I am shy and do not introduce myself to a lot of women, I am including matches/year on 5 dating apps and the occasional time I give my phone number to someone I meet at work).
We must then multiply that number by .6 for special interests, then multiply that by .18 for Star Wars fans, then .07 of the new total for hardcore toy collectors. My other interests, computer hardware, saltwater fish, weather, etc need to also be factored in, but I can't find much numerical data. You are welcome to create figures if you wish!
We want to know the number of days it would hypothetically take total to meet all those 190000 women, and how long it would take to find the first compatible person out of that. I haven't taken statistics, I'm more from the calculus side of math and my friend is from a chemistry/biology background. Go nuts with math! Have fun! Please explain your calculations so that we can adapt this as time moves forward. Thanks!
