Why do people say I'm not Spanish being from Spain? They're like but you're White?

Because they think Spanish and Mexican are the same (and many Mexicans have both indigenous ppl's and Spanish ancestry).  I knew someone who was from Spain and when she told ppl she was Spanish, ppl asked her:  What kind of Spanish?  Mexican Spanish?  Guatemalan Spanish?  Many ppl in the US don't know much about Europe or other continents.   I lived there so I have a better idea.

Some of the world´s most ignorant people are american. I´m guessing they relate "spanish" to the language which they then relate to Mexico.

Because not all native Spaniards are white-skinned, many (around half) are olive skinned while the other half are quite fair skinned.

Btw Lili is wrong, while anyone in the world can be color/race obsessed, Americans overall definitely win the prize for it.

Aren’t there Spaniards and other Europeans of any skin color ? So what’s your point ?  

Also, if an American is ignorant about geography and other countries then it is likely that he hadn’t heard about a country called “Spain” so if you tell them that Spaniards are black or yellow or white they will believe you.

Anyways , why people from other countries care so much about what Americans say or do? They also make a big deal about Americans using the word “soccer” and they also complain because Americans don’t use the metric system. Why do you care ? Americans don’t care about what Spaniards.
