Why did the Florida Marlins move to Miami?

    They didn't.  They were based in Miami since they started playing in 1993. 

    Initially, the Marlins played their home games at Joe Robbie Stadium, which they shared with Miami Dolphins.  In 2012 the Marlins moved to Marlins Park, a dedicated baseball stadium.  The Miami-Dade County owns the Marlins Park.  As part of the agreement to use the park the team changed its name to Miami Marlins before 2012 season.
