Can I use rogaine if my hair isn’t clean?

I used it earlier today after I showered but put gel in my hair since then. It says to clean your scalp before every use but wouldn’t that mean I have to take two showers a day?

    While using rogaine it's best to wash your hair every day. If you do not wash your hair daily while using rogaine, you might experience scalp burning, itching, redness, or irritant contact dermatitis. Avoid this and shampoo daily. Rogaine is best applied to a clean, dry scalp.

    It's the scalp that needs to be clean - you can use products on the hair if you don't also get on the scalp.

    You need to stop with the gel if you want to use Rogaine.
