Is this a normal goal to have?

So I have been fascinated with the idea of disappearing completely and resurfacing with a different identity in a different country. Now, I will make it clear that I do not owe money to any Mafia nor I am an ex hitman, I am a 23 year old uni student who is living with his parents.

However, upon graduating and getting a job these are my bucket list.

1. Move out in to a new apartment.

2. Change name.

3. Work for 4 years and earn some decent money then move to a new country.(The final stage of the great vanishing act.)

In a way I am inspired by Tommy Wiseau as upon migrating to USA no one new his past beside the fact that he is of European descent.

I also want to experience the freedom of a man without a past, someone who can recreate his identity and not stick to the identity he is born with.

PS. I don't have much social life yet so I won't be missed much, also I do plan to keep in touch with my parents but be pretty much gone to everyone else.

This normal lol?

I'm sure that a lot of teens and 20s have that idea at some stage, but it's naive, immature and ultimately very silly.

What makes you think that this would give you any freedom at all?  Why would having no past be a good thing?  But anyway, you'd still HAVE a past - it's only that no-one but you and your family would know what it was.You can run away from your problems if you like, but don't kid yourself, you can't run away from who you are.  All your problems would still be with you.  You can pretend to have a different identity but it would just be pretend.Be realistic.  It isn't going to happen.  Nowadays virtually anyone can be traced somehow.  You need documents, ID, work history, qualifications, etc.  I'm sure that this sounds exciting and original but it's just another childish fantasy.

I don't think it is a normal "goal," but that or something similar is a fantasy that is common to many people. Most people only daydream about it though. To call it a goal, they would have to be making concrete plans to actually try it.

Good luck in the age of internet, you won't be anonymous for very long at all.

I've tried this, it doesn't work as you want. I have met and read a lot of people that have similar thoughts like this, and I can see a pattern. They don't want to 'start a new life', but they want to 'be someone else'. I think the goal starts because of dissatisfaction with oneself. Because if it really just to be free or whatever it is, you can just do what the other answer said.

Accept who you are, accept your past, and improve yourself. Escaping when any problem arises is not the mature thing to do. Coming from a 22 y.o

You are delusional - you state: "I also want to experience the freedom of a man without a past, someone who can recreate his identity and not stick to the identity he is born with."

    THEN

"I don't have much social life yet so I won't be missed much"

You have no past or present and apparently won't need to change your identity no one would care to keep up with you from your statement.  By default just moving to another city would allow you the anonymity you desire - close your facebook account and other social medial platforms and create new ones. Hell of a lot easier and less stupid than changing your name, moving to a different country. Explaining to future employers why you changed your name (so they could verify previous employment and education) would make you look like you are hiding something and no employer wants to deal with that unknown or neurotic behavior.
