No. The criminals and psychopaths would have a field if the average US police officer were unarmed.

There are some armed police in the UK now but nowhere near as many as here. Then again it’s harder for citizens to get guns in the UK. In a country like this the argument is that you have to have more armed police because there are so many armed civilians walking around.,The NRA is very effective at what it does here...making sure any idiot can get a gun

The U.K. will probably need to arm their police in the direction things are going.

Cops should only be allowed to carry a .38 special REVOLVER
And a shotgun in the car PERIOD.
Far too many cops today are mentally abused millenials that will fire until the magazine is empty resulting in dozens of stray bullets hitting buildings, cars, and innocent bystanders.
No true marksman ever needs more than 6 shots to control a situation.
Especially when there are a half dozen cops at the scene.

I watched a dashcam video of a police officer shot full of holes by a drug smuggler with a machine gun. Hell no, they should not be disarmed. The problem is that they don’t kill enough people, and people just aren’t scared enough by them that they fight back, try to run away, or brazenly pull weapons on them. If a person has a weapon and in any way threatens to use it or refuses the order to drop it, the police should end them.
