When you have a clothing item you can't wear anymore, do you re-use it for dusting your home or do you throw the shirt away?

Or what else do you use it for?

Update:

Soft cotton clothes (not jeans) such as shirts and pajamas that you can't wear anymore that are not in good enough condition for donating: Use them for dusting or throw them away?

If I need rags I'll cut the item up but if I'm good I make sure the item is washed and then put it in a bag and when it's full it goes to a charity shop (thrift store) that has a deal with rag merchants.  They'll take clothes for ragging as long as they're clean and the bag is clearly labelled.  Before that I used to burn them in the annual garden bonfire to avoid sending them to landfill.  I don't really like shopping so when I find something I like I wear it to death. Most years I discard very few clothes but sometimes they all seem to wear out at once so I need to buy lots or look like a hobo.

I give them to charity if they are still good enough.

Be sure there's no buttons on them and use them for cleaning rags, at least one time.

dust is the easy job before they move down to either grease rags or paint rags cause I do both.  Mine get used until the END.

    hell no

i donate clothes or give to others to use or trash them.

i actually use cleaning cloths to clean with. It would drive me crazy to see an old tee shirt in my cleaning cabinet of goodies.

i do upcycle old towels for cleaning cars.

The only thing I recycle at home is towels.

Many thrift stores take old stained ripped clothes and put them into a shredder. They then can sell that to a recycling plant.  They get money for each  pound of shredding garments.

You can donate those items to a textile recycling company in your area.

They became the latest bed lining for my 2 cats, as long as they are nice and soft and clean my cats will not complain about what they sleep on.

If it's still in decent condition, I either donate it to Goodwill or save it if I think there's a possibility it might fit me again someday. If it's in poor condition, I throw it out.
