Joe Biden is taking the gloves off with Russia. Will this halt the Russians' planned invasion of Ukraine, or w/they go ahead & invade anyway?
Thank you for the vote of confidence, ByeByeBirdie. Fact is, asking real questions here on YAP-YAP has been a fool's errand for more years than I'd care to count. Most go unanswered or receive only unintelligible gibberish in return. <sob>

<Ukraine approves strategy to “recover” Crimea, threatening all-out war with Russia>

Facing that threat to Russia is it unreasonable for the Russians to respond?

When the Russian government collapsed, our spies walked in like it was a guided tour. Be bought tanks and jets, and saw their missiles rusting in the silos. Russia is bluffing. Still, would you want to fight a bear if you knew it was toothless?

As I recall, the Russians took over Crimea AND purchased access to 20% of the US uranium supply during the Obama Administration.

Sir, he only took the gloves off to put on his mittens, nome sayin?

UPDATE: @yblogical, the uraniumOne hoax was even debunked by fox news. -.-
Not a bad question for once Ed. Biden and Putin have already spoken and agreed to hold a summit, but that doesn't necessarily mean Putin will act in good faith. They may very well push past the border.

First of all if Russia was actually planning to invade Ukraine they wouldn't be so obvious about it. Putin is a dirtbag but he's also quite smart and very deceptive. He's hard to read and that's on purpose. The military build-up was probably just intimidation and testing the political waters. I mean he could still invade but the point is that he likes to keep people off balance and he doesn't do what is expected.
As far as Biden "getting tough" with Russia. I think that it is good to stand up to Russia and I applaud the sanctions. They don't respect weakness. But at the same time I don't think that Putin is going to be terribly worried. Putin does what Putin wants to do and he is both unpredictable and extremely hard to intimidate. Putin is going to do whatever he has in mind anyway but I'm not sure that a full scale invasion is what he's planning. I mean who knows, but the point is that he wants us to think we know what he is going to do, because that makes it easier for him to do something sneaky.

Russians have enough clout thanks to the inside information given them by the former administration that they will go ahead and dominate Ukraine. However, because of Biden, Russians now will have limited scope.

Biden is showing how tough he is while Trump cowered down to Putin.
