what are these crystals ?

i used to live in a house right next to a gravel church parking lot. i found these rocks / crystals on one of the far corners and have always wondered what they are. some are built into the rocks, others were alone. they’re pretty small and a shiny maroon color.

I cannot tell because Yahoo does not let you load a good enough image to zoom in and see the crystals well enough to identify form and material.  Try Reddit (whatsthisrock) and load a higher quality image.

Garnet or possibly weathered pyrite (iron oxide replacement of once pyrite) would be my guesses based on this image of raisin-looking minerals.  Garnets would be way harder and is a lot more likely.

They appear to be garnets, but you didn't make it easy to determine with such a horrible display. I'd not be terribly surpized to learn that the church yard was occupied by bunnies. Put them on a sheet of typing paper with a bit of separation instead of a pile.
