my grandparents never ate sweets and my grandmother baked. I never remember seeing them eat a dessert or ice cream or candy.

some people don't care for sweets...i personally can't get enough

Not everyone likes desserts, some restaurants offer the cheese board after a meal.

    Not that different.

As more and more people develop healthy eating habits, they lose some of their taste for TOO-SWEET foods. And others, who have eaten a lot of sugary/starch foods now have diabetes and HAVE to cut those foods out of their diet.

There are still some people who are addicted to overly-sugary foods ... that is why IHop restaurants survive. Their food is SO bad for you, way too much sugar.

I will sometimes eat ice cream, or a homemade apple pie made with a tart apples, minimal sugar, and no cinnamon.   But usually I don't eat desserts.
