Some people just start talking and they don’t stop. They ask questions for follow up that their minds take them to. It doesn’t really mean anything. They just want to talk or have a conversation so it was not intentionally rude (which is the rude that counts.) Unless this behavior continues there is no need for you to be snowflake. When confronted with a question like this you might smile and say “why do you want to know?” And if they are still around after that, change the subject to movies or music or food or something. 

Yes, but you shouldn't blame her too much. Shyness isn't the only kind of social awkwardness, and she clearly suffers from one of those other kinds. Just try to be as kind and polite to everyone, including her, as you can.

Just shout 'YES' as loud as you can and add 'and you are making me ten times worse, so get lost'.

Well being anti social is practically a person that is shy. Maybe she was seeing if you are shy for some reason or anti social. Not rude if you say yes without the reason why you're shy.
