why people want to have a lawn completely "weed free"? does it look natural beautiful? why many/most prefer the business park style of lawn?
i noticed Windsor palace, etc have more natural looking lawns. not super green like "business park style" (you know what you would expect the lawn for Microsoft office building to have )
why one looks better? and i personally like some weeds in the lawn. not a lot , but , you know more of a natural look, of course with plenty of fescue (like 90 percent fescue 10 percent "weeds" like clover, baby breath, violets, etc)

I hate weeds because they take over, especially in mid summer when the grass goes brown. I fertilise in Spring to make the grass grow and fill in the gaps. Then I get a knife and dig out the weeds by the roots in summer.

I live rural and prefer the natural look too. And it's better for my horse. Clover, dandelions...all good nutrition and require very little water compared to a cultivated golf course lawn.
I don't use chemical fertilizers on my lawn because I have a horse. I do use some 2-4,D sparingly when necessary for invasive and poisonous stuff like tansy.
I have quite a few neighbors who offer their lawn to my horse when we're out and about, but if it looks like a golf course, I know it could poison her so no thanks. I'm not feeding my horse weed & feed, sorry.
I will say that a thick and fast growing grass lawn is a natural deterrent to weeds and moss. Keep the grass tipped, fed, watered and it will choke out most weeds.
