Doubtful, illegal and unconstitutional war that took many lives on both side not to mention those simply caught in the middle that were handed the bill for it whether involved or not...

The Confederate battle flag was carried into the Capitol in the Trump-Republican raid and attempt to overthrow the government of the United States on the 6th of January. So, what does that tell you?
There are people in this country who don't like the way our government was designed to function. Those same people want to make major changes to it to suit their beliefs on how government should work. They say it's Democrats who hate America and want to change it. But, in reality, it's they who are attempting to make it into something it was never meant to be.

Probably not. The civil war is really about all they have going for them, these days. Most of the south looks more like West Africa than the U.S. Regressives pine for a return to the 1840s.

It's not so much the Civil War as it is the way that residents of the Confederate states were so badly treated by the North after the war. As a defense mechanism they developed a culture that made them proud to be from the South instead of ashamed, like you want them to be. You still look down you nose on people from Alabama, Mississippi, etc. And given what democrats in Congress are doing you might be asking if they will ever get over slavery.

The South never fully recovered economically from the civil war. Certain parts it's hard to believe it's the USA. I drove through with a friend visiting from Germany. He took photos, otherwise people back home wouldn't believe him.
