What are some interesting items in your kitchen?

My five bladed pastry chopper / blender, with a wooden handle.

Its good for mixing the shortening through pastry, and when your making scones / biscuits, or crumble toppings.

It saves you having to rub the shortening / fat into the flour with your hands.

       Also my fine grater [microplane] is good for fine grating garlic cloves,  fresh ginger,  parmesan cheese,  zesting citrus fruits.

Food............

when we bought our house, we put in an island, but rather than match the counter tops, we put a butcher block top on it. AND rather than the usual butcher block looking top, we stained it black and sealed it with wipe-on poly.  It's spectacular.
