My adult son's lying has got worse in lockdown ?
He has been lying to us for years, even over trivial stuff. He always lies about where he goes, which friends he's seeing (even though we don't ask), and things he buys with his money. He's basically leading a double life!
Since last year when lockdown came to UK, the lying got even worse and he shows absolutely no remorse for what he does. He even goes as far as bragging to everyone how good a liar he is.
He now lies nearly everyday to us saying he's "going for a walk" or he's at work for the whole day when really he isn't and is probably going to covid hotspots.
One time, my son said he was at work, but I saw him at a bus stop in the afternoon when I went for a run in the neighborhood. When he saw me, he then ran off. Another time, there was an emergency so I phoned his work and his boss said that he was on annual leave. I have no idea what he gets up to these days.
Lying has been nothing new but I've noticed the lies are worse and have become more frequent since last year with lockdown.

Hello concerned parent yes this Pandemic has changed many lives in many ways but if he is a adult is he living at home still? If so he probably feels he won’t be allowed to go or do certain things for safety reasons or whatever reasons. If he not living at home then there shouldn’t be any excuses to make or lies to tell unless he is doing something suspicious or out the ordinary. Unfortunately we live in cruel wicked world that has a lot of negative affects on anyone especially young people or young adults that’s easily influenced though they know right from wrong. Keep praying over the situation and for his safety and that he gets help if needed or talks to his parents. Pray for a calm heart and peace of mind and that your child will have a change of heart so he doesn’t reap what he sow or endanger hisself unnecessarily. Take deep breaths don’t give up hope in trying to reach him.
