Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Why is this site being shut down?

How much can it possibly cost to keep this site up? Verizon made $128.29 billion last year. This can't cost more than a million to run in its current state.

One reason, money. PR was never an issue. Support was never an issue, as there was none. Y/A uses resources in memory, servers and other hardware, that had to be maintained, replaced and backed up.

Now that Verizon owns both AOL (in 2015) and Yahoo (in 2017), they now have other ideas for the resources that Y/A uses, four years later.

YA is being shut down because it has long been miss-managed by Yahoo, Abused by trolls, has been around to long....and is Free.

Cold Blooded Corporate Verison...the new owners of Yahoo...dont want to invest the time into fixing it....they just want to be rid of it.

Out with the old and troubled.

Just lift up the trash can lid and dump it in.

They dont care about the actual real people who came here...like me...who relied on YA...and its real answers from real people.

Its going to be a sad day...when I have a question....try and come here...only to remember...

    Ohhh.....wait....its gone.
